A hotel with a long tradition

When we speak about the Hotel Bécquer in Seville, we also speak of the richness of its history and tradition… however it also makes reference to modernity, comfort and a hotel with great plans for the future. The Hotel Bécquer carries on 111the tradition of other hotel establishments whose origins date back to the 19th century. One of these was the Hotel Cecil Oriente, situated on Plaza Nueva, which was operating until 1970. The family who owned it sold it a year later to build the Hotel Bécquer on Calle Reyes Católicos, on the site occupied by the palace-house of the Marquesses of Las Torres de la Pressa, Her Excellency Dª Elvira Marañón y Jiménez and His Excellency Sr. D. Andrés Lasso de la Vega y Quintanilla.

In the building process valuable features from the aforementioned palace-house were used, such as the Renaissance Grilles included on the reception desk, the grilles which form the partition in the indoor bar and its coffering, the coffering in the romantic room and its fireplace, the leaded stained-glass windows in the main room and its leaded doors.

With these additions, the idea has been to include original and artistic features in the hotel’s décor which give it a special and unique character.
